Chitau pitha ( ଚିତଉ ପି଼ଠା )

Speacility : Chitalagi Amabasya (or Chitau Amabasya) ( ଚିତଉ ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା )
Ingredients : Ingridients : ( ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ସାମଗ୍ରୀ )

Raw Rice( ଅରୁଆ ଚାଉଳ ) - 3/4 cup
Coconut, grated ( ନଡିଆ କୋରା ) - 3/4 cup
Salt as needed ( ଲୁଣ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ଅନୁସାରେ )Refined Oil or ghee– as required (ରିଫାଇନ୍ ତେଲ କିମ୍ବା ଘିଅ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ଅନୁସାରେ)

HowToMake: How to Prepare (ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ପ୍ରଣାଳୀ):

Soak the rice in a water for at least 3 to 4 hours. wash soaked rice properly . Grate the coconut and keep it aside. Grind the drained rice with grated coconut with needed water. Add salt to the batter and mix well. The batter leave for 1 to 2 hour. Heat the tawa or pan and grease some oil, pour some batter into it, and cover it. After two minutes, remove from flame there is no need to flip the upper portion of the pitha and serve it.

Description: Chitalagi Amabasya is celebrated on the new moon day of the lunar month of Shravana. A special type of rice cake called 'chitau' is offered to Lord Jagannath at the temple. This cake is prepared and relished in almost every household. These creatures are offered cakes and requested not to bruise the feet of farmers when they go to remove weeds from the fields
